Today’s Theme: Bratty, Snotty Little Children

I’m going through a phase right now where I don’t like kids very much.  This may change tomorrow, but for the moment I’m in anti-child mode. So tell me: what annoys you about the little boogers the most?

Today’s Theme: “My Universe, My Conversation”

This can be either really annoying or really entertaining:  what’s the most obnoxious “private” conversation you’ve heard someone have in public? Did it make you giggle or cringe? And do you have personal conversations where others can hear, or do you try to go somewhere secluded?

Play the Monday Peeve meme! Either leave your answer as a comment or link to your blog.

Today’s Theme: Pre-Holiday Nausea

When you see holiday decorations, hear holiday music, and are bombarded with holiday promotions 2 months before the actually holiday takes place, does it fill you with merry excitement or does it make you want to barf a little?  Rarely people are in-between on this one.

Today’s Theme: Sounds That Make Your Skill Crawl

Which noises can’t you stand? I chose this topic because I was sitting down with some tea and a book this morning before work, and there was this guy at the table next to me chewing his food in the most obnoxious way that it literally made me sick to my stomach. Like you’d have to TRY to sound that gross. So be petty and share your noise peeves with me today!

Today’s Theme: OCD

Name one thing you’re obsessively compulsive about–something that when others mess it up, it drives you into a frenzy. Maybe you can’t stand it when your CD collection becomes un-alphabetized, or when the glasses in the pantry aren’t in height-descending order.

Now dig a little deeper into your psyche. WHY is it do you think you react this way?

My answers coming soon!

Today’s Theme: Rip-offs

When was the last time you felt you were asked to pay way too much for something? Here’s your chance to whine about it.

Last time we were at a bar in Times Square, I think it was $12 for a small cocktail and about $8 for a beer.  I understand the need to turn an extra profit in a high-rent environment, but sheesh, they buy that stuff in bulk…

Today’s Theme: Shared Space

We’ve all had neighbors or roommates with annoying qualities. So share: what’s something that a neighbor or roommate has made YOU grind your teeth?

Tim and I were laughing the other day about this dude in our old apartment building who would trick us into painfully long conversations at the most inconvenient times. We’d either be leaving in a rush, or coming home tired after a long day, and this guy would be, like, hiding behind the front entrance just waiting for someone to annoy. And he wasn’t the type of guy you felt sorry for because he was lonely; he seemed to have plenty of friends, he just made it a hobby to jump out of corners and blabber for an hour to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately there was no back entrance, so he was unavoidable…

Today’s Theme: Political Parties

I saw Lewis Black last Friday! Delightfully cynical as always, one of my favorite bits was about political parties and if you’re still firmly Republican or Democrat after the mayhem of the past couple decades, you have issues.

So, despite your party affiliation, name one thing that annoys you most about Republicans, and one thing that annoys you most about Democrats.

Here’s mine:

a) Republicans: The war against…well, everything. Granted Clinton was a big “war on drugs” advocate, but why do Republicans need to declare war on everything, including concepts and holidays? I feel like next they’re going to declare war against the stars or something.

b) Democrats: Now I have some hippie tendencies, but I feel like this party in its extreme has bred way too many people who feel like they don’t need to make any contribution to society other than complain about shampoo chemicals, make bad folk music, and philosophize about air.

Today’s Theme: Preconceived Notions

Do people make assumptions about you that aren’t true? Maybe there are assumptions about your personality based on your appearance or background. Here’s your chance to rant about it!

Mine has to do with regional snobbery.  I’ve lived in a variety of settings, from a small town to St. Louis to the NYC metro area, so I’m annoyed at both ends of the latest form of “cultural war” in which people feel like their regional lifestyle is superior to another.

Even though many people who grew up in NYC are more sheltered and less cultured than the majority of Americans, it’s like everything outside of the island of Manhattan is just a huge expansion of empty hills, tumbleweeds, cows,  tire gardens, and people who have only recently figured out how to eat with forks.

Ignorance and stupidity is EVERYWHERE, it just varies in style from location to location.

Now unfortunately, stupid people in redneck areas DO seem to vote more…

I’m going to be out of town for a few days so I wanted to get this one in early.

Today’s Theme: Annoying Voter Habits

In light of all the fun scams and empty promises that is the U.S. election season, it seemed appropriate to have a couple political-themed topics!
So what type of voter behavior annoys you the most?

For me, it’s people who only vote based on ONE hot-button issue. This mostly applies to people who only vote based on their stance on abortion or gun control, but it can apply to a whole other host of issues. It’s just so dangerous…they’re not voting on what’s best for their country, and in many cases, they’re not even voting to protect their personal or family interests. Argh!
